Salem Pop's Director:

Larry Harrington has been  conductor and musical director of the Salem Pops Orchestra since September 2002. Larry has over 25 years of band and orchestra conducting experience, including 12 years as conductor of military bands while serving in the U.S. Navy.  He was conductor of the Hampton Roads Metro Band in Norfolk, Virginia, a 45-member community concert band, for eight years prior to his move to Salem in 2000.

Larry grew up in Eugene, Oregon, and began studying piano at age 8 and percussion at age 10.  He attended Eugene High School and performed with the Eugene Junior Symphony where he won scholarships to Pacific Music Camp in Stockton, California, and the famed National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan.  During his senior year, he was a member of the Oregon All State Orchestra and was voted Eugene High School Outstanding Band Member.
